In 2014, Biltwell launched the Gringo - their first full-face helmet. This retro-styled helmet garnered immense popularity among bikers, igniting a revival in the industry and setting the tone for a whole new segment of motorcycle helmets. Biltwell have now updated the Gringo to meet the new, more stringent ECE R22.06 safety standards while maintaining a no-frills, old-school aesthetic at a very attractive price.
At first glance, not much has changed: the Gringo still has its beautiful, slim profile ABS shell with sturdy snaps to attach visors and peaks. Not too many bells and whistles to deduct from the sleek design that matches just about any bike out there. The inside is another story though: the new dual density EPS internal shell expertly absorbs and dissipates impacts and a new BioFoam head form with vented polyester padding promotes airflow through the helmet, despite the lack of external vents. The helmet's three-piece comfort liner is easily removable for convenient cleaning and replacement.
If you are after a bit of vintage flair but don’t want to compromise on safety, the Grinog is where it’s at.
